ASSOCIATE GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Independent Contractor

$12.00 - $14 Hour Negotiable / Flexible Schedule

This off-site position will assist in the development and execution of high profile marketing materials for ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, in support of the world-class attraction and its mission to inspire Basin stewardship. Assignments will be defined by the Director of Marketing and Communications in coordination with the Graphic Designer.

Assignments will include, among others: Refreshing and/or resizing print and Flash ads; creation or updating of hard copy and electronic brochures, newsletters, reports, and postcards; posters and banners; graphic content for ECHO website and emergent media.

Experience and skills required: Bachelors degree or Art school equivalent; 1-2 years of professional design and production experience, including interactions with printers, and other vendors; understanding of brand implementation; ability to meet stringent deadlines, and to adapt quickly to changing priorities; detailed oriented with strong organization and communication skills; responsible and dedicated; proficiency in, at minimum, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and/or QuarkExpress.

Café Prep and Server (Seasonal F/T and P/T)

Reports To: Guest Services Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Date Last Approved/Revised: March 2008

Summary:
Oversee ECHO indoor/outdoor seasonal café operation including cleaning, food prep, and excellent customer service. Café operation is from April through October.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Daily cleaning and prep of café space.
  • Light food prep including sandwiches, soup, salads, etc.
  • Operate cash register.
  • Prepare food platters, bag lunches, etc. for special events and meetings on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures including preparation of daily cash-out and reconciliation report.

Other Duties:
  • Assist customer service representatives on an as-needed basis

Education and/or Experience:
  • Cafe or deli experience including food prep.
  • Proven track record of excellent customer service.

  • Ability to run a cash register, facility with numbers.
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibility.

Compensation: $10.00 to $12.00 per hour
