ECHO has a commitment to inspiring teachers to feel more confident about science content knowledge and how to make science meaningful, inquiry-based and interactive. Sign up for one or more workshops and expand your network of teachers invested in expanding science education.


2009-10 Teacher Professional Development — Science Series

Eight (8) teacher science workshops will be offered at ECHO on Mondays from 4 to 7 p.m., October 2009 to May 2010. Workshops are geared for 3rd–6th grade science teachers, although any teacher is welcome to attend. Delve into background content, try demos, review assessments, and take home lesson handouts. Credits toward teacher licensure provided in a certificate at the end of the school year.

Burlington School District teachers attending one or more of these workshops receive the professional development stipend and have the workshop fee paid!

Non-BSD Teacher Fee: $40 per teacher, per session.

Full year pre-registration: $240 for eight sessions — a 25% discount

Minimum of six teachers to run
Maximum of 25 teachers per session

Typical Workshop Schedule:

4 - 4:30 Arrival, Refreshments, and Exhibit Exploration Activity.
4:30 - 5 Background — concepts and principles in content topic.
5 - 5:45 Activity Practice — reinforce concepts, connections and resolving misconceptions.
5:45 - 6:15 Refreshment Break and Resource Review
6:15 - 6:45 Final Activity
6:45 - 7 Q & A and Evalutations
