Spring with the 8th Annual ECHO Earth Weeks' Mudfest
|As sure as April showers bring May flowers, spring also signals Earth Day and Mud Season — two events that ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, will be celebrating in muddy fashion with its 8th annual ECHO Earth Weeks’ MudFest. For 9 fun-filled days — April 20 - 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — ECHO will be abuzz with muddy activities and games, eco-exhibitions, and knee-slapping “Muddy Music", 12:30 p.m. every day, showcasing acclaimed Vermont musicians, produced by family-friendly Re-Bop records. And, this year's Earthweek's Mudfest will end with a special focus on citizen science ALL DAY on the final day, Sunday, April 28!
2013 ECHO Earth Weeks’ MudFest highlights:
always-popular "Mud Fling": Daily at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Scoop up a spoonful — or handful — of sopping-wet earth, then drop it three stories down towards a giant target below. Now that’s physics!
- Meet the Animals: :
Each day a special animal ambassador will be introduced to our guests and allow us to tell the story of the importance of Lake stewardship and what it means to the health of our animal friends both in and out of the water.
- "Muddy Music":
Daily at 12:30 p.m. Grab a spot in the bright and airy new Lakeside Pavilion and listen to and sing along with some of Vermont's best singer-songwriters such as Jon Gailmor, A2VT, PossumHaw, Robert Resnick and many more — produced by Vermont’s own
- Wildlife Movie: Each day at 2 p.m. watch and exclusive ECHO movie short on a few of our more charismatic animals that teach us about our beautiful Lake and its environment.
Table: Daily from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.:
One super-sized mud tables with creative play tools. Oh yes, play all you want in the mud!
- Citizen Science Day: New this year, on April 28th we'll be cleaning up all the muddy activities and hosting an exciting event highlighting local and national citizen science projects in which you can participate in ongoing scientific research!
