TEENS
& ADULTS

Who says science centers are just for kids? Join the fun and expand your perspective with a range of adult-oriented programming.

Charlie Cogbill, Historic Forest Ecologist, discusses the pre-settlement forests of the Lake Champlain region.

Meet the Scientist

Meet the Scientist offers teens and adults the opportunity to meet practicing scientists and get a glimpse of the research and education needed by professionals in their fields of expertise. Our speakers talk about their avocation, then demonstrate an activity they might perform in the lab or even invite the public to participate. Usually only 30 minutes long, these special programs offer opportunities for adults and teens to ask questions and explore basic scientific procedures. Check our Events Calendar for the next Meet the Scientist program!

Guests enjoy a Café Scientifique with guest expert Dr. Barbara Frankowski, Professor of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, University of Vermont.

Café Scientifique

Café Scientifique offers adults the opportunity to talk about hot-button science topics in a relaxed atmosphere. With free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, under the soft blue lights in ECHO's salon, visitors are encouraged to listen to an expert, and then engage in thoughtful conversation. Topics vary from medical science discoveries to string theory to the demise of the honeybee. Usually held on Thursday evenings, ECHO is open at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m. and ending by 8:30 p.m.

ECHO hosts renowned exports on diverse topics, like this author panel for Lake Champlain Illustrated.Panel Discussions, book signings, speaker series.

Depending on our changing exhibit theme, we offer adult programs that delve into topics in ways for participants to add their voice. Check our Events Calendar for the next offerings!

Movie Shorts.

Usually science-themed, our movie shorts offer guests an opportunity to learn about an aspect of science as it relates to our changing exhibit or to general science-based topics. For 15-30 minutes you'll have the opportunity to learn while sitting down and relaxing for a bit in a quiet space.
