Champ

Beginning on Saturday, February 15 through Sunday, March 2nd, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. ECHO will be celebrating CHAMP!

Join us for a two-week-long celebration of all that is Champ with ECHO’s CHAMPFEST! Take part in our “Believer or Skeptic” fun, interactive, family program and explore the facts and legends of our ingenious Lake monster. Explore the history of Champ sightings, the many ways Champ has been portrayed through drawings and photographs, and learn about the field of Cryptozoology (literally the study of hidden animals). Did you know there are other unexplained creatures? We'll learn about as well, such as the Loch Ness Monster and Sasquatch.

  • Film: Everyday at 2 p.m. during ChampFest We will be showing our exclusive Champ film which is about the famous Sandra Mansi photo.
  • Artistry: After watching the film and learning about other mythical creatures, guests can try their hand at drawing or creating their own version of Champ and make it part of a gallery of creativity.
  • Masks: A favorite activity is creating a take-home mask of Champ that can be as colorful and imaginative as one desires.
  • Parade: Every day an impromptu parade will occur where the Champ masks can be worn and guests can parade around the inside of ECHO once the music begins.
  • Story Explorers: Tuesdays and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Our youngest guests (6 and under) will enjoy a daily children's story about Champ that will engage their imagination and set a conservation message at the same time.
  • Champ Photo: EXCLUSIVE! Saturday, February 22 through Sunday, March 2
The original CHAMP Photo taken by Sandra Mansi in 1977 will be on display at ECHO! This is the first time this photo has been available for public viewing.
