A spacious and architecturally stunning pavilion
featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, this innovative
space will bring visitors and school groups within steps
of Lake Champlain to discover world-class exhibits,
learn from experts, and celebrate with neighbors.By
enclosing the existing west side porch and redesigning
adjoining first floor interior spaces, ECHO is creating
5,900 square feet of highly flexible space that will
meet multiple needs. Retractable walls, moveable
furniture, light controls, wireless access, zoned sound,
and other innovations mean this community gathering spot
can host:
- Regional conferences
- Traveling exhibitions
- Science fairs or festivals
- Lectures and presentations
- Community functions
- Café Scientifique
- Vacation camps
- Overnight camp-ins
The new space will continue ECHO’s commitment to
green building and LEED certification by adding
geothermal, wind, and solar renewable energy, plus
stormwater improvements, which will all be interpreted
both inside and outside the Pavilion.
The internationally acclaimed OUR BODY: The
Universe Within exhibit will make its Vermont debut
in the Lakeside Pavilion in Spring 2012. |
