ECHO’s visitors are comprised of primarily families with young children; therefore we feel it’s essential to ask the following question. Background checks will be performed on all applicants, regardless of a yes or no response.

Application Agreement & Release of Liability

Acceptance for volunteer or intern placement is subject to:

  • Satisfactory background check
  • Personal interview with Volunteer Coordinator and/or Department Staff
  • Willingness to abide by all organizational policies and procedures

I understand that ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center is not obligated to provide placement, nor am I obligated to accept a position. The language in this application is not intended to create, nor is it to be construed to constitute, a contract of employment.

I certify that my application is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I authorize investigation of all statements contained herein. I understand that any incorrect, incomplete or false statements or information furnished by me may, at the discretion of ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, disqualify me from volunteering, or cause my dismissal.

D/B/A ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain (ECHO) assumes no responsibility for any injury suffered by you as a result of your volunteer or intern work either on or off ECHO premises, and, that if you are appointed to ECHO’s volunteer/intern or E-team program, neither you nor your parents, nor the heirs, administrators, executors, and assigns of either shall ever institute, or aid in the institution of any action at law or otherwise against ECHO on account of any injury to you or your property resulting from your volunteer or intern service, and/or you and your parents, for your selves and your heirs, administrators, executors and assigns HEREBY RELEASE the Lake Champlain Basin Science Center, Inc. D/B/A ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, its Board of Governors, Trustees, Officers, employees and agents from and against any and all claims for personal injuries to you or loss of or damage to your property arising out of your activities as a volunteer or intern.
