PROGRAMS |
ECHO's Education programs strive to inspire people of all ages to consider the implications of science in their lives, to find relevance in new-found knowledge, and to apply their ECHO experience towards ongoing environmental stewardship. |
| A group of students huddle together, excitedly building a
model beaver dam with mud and popsicle sticks. Tenzen and
Bella stand ready with two different volumes of "stream"
water in beakers. Carmen has the timer ready. Cody and Isaac
are ready to graph the results on a chart they designed
themselves. Abby and Emily have prepared a "before and
after" sketch and labeled the parts of the wetland habitat
as a prediction of the change they anticipate from the
"beaver's" work. These students want to know, will the dam
hold? If so, what will the new habitat look like? This is inquiry at ECHO
— real world investigations that
stimulate a life long interest in science.
At ECHO, inquiry science is intentional with school and
group field trips — especially as it relates to the health
of the Lake Champlan Basin. Inquiry process is also key to
reaching individual visitors who walk through our doors each
day.

| ECHO Encounters,
ECHO's signature Staff and Volunteer-led experiences,
include science experiments, demonstrations, construction
projects, film discussions, speakers, and art/science
activities - to name a few.
ECHO's exhibits
are compelling on their own, but can be significantly
enhanced when a Staff or Volunteer Educator is there to pose
a new question or idea, or to coach a Guest through a
hands-on activity. |
