Champlain College
An overview of Burlington history, courtesy of Champlain College. Champlain College, founded in 1878, is a private residential college located in the beautiful Hill Section of Burlington, overlooking Lake Champlain.

They work with the community to foster economic vitality; preserve and enhance neighborhoods, quality of life and the environment; and promote equity and opportunity for all residents of Burlington.

The Lake Champlain Basin Program works in partnership with government agencies from New York, Vermont, and Quebec, private organizations, local communities, and individuals to coordinate and fund efforts which benefit the Lake Champlain Basin's water quality, fisheries, wetlands, wildlife, recreation, and cultural resources.

The Vermont Historical Society is the only organization in Vermont that collects artifacts, books, and documents that reflect the entire history of the state, including every geographical area and every chronological period. We preserve the history that makes Vermont a special place to live, work, and visit.
