DIVE DEEPER AT THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN RESOURCE ROOM
Dive deeper into Lake Champlain at the Resource Room
located on the 2nd floor of ECHO. The room
features:
- A friendly staff to assist you with questions about the
Lake and region
- Hands-on exhibits
- A Lake Library with videos, books, research reports,
CD-ROMS, and fact sheets
- Children's book nook
- Interactive "Basin Boxes" for preschool to
middle-school learning about the Lake
- Information about volunteer and stewardship
opportunities
- Computer stations with Internet access
- School curricula for teachers and home-schoolers to
browse.
The Resource Room is open to all paid visitors during
ECHO's regular hours (sometimes closed for lunch). Free
Resource Room Passes (does not include admission to ECHO) are
available to visit the Resource Room for research. To obtain
one, call the Lake Champlain Basin Program in advance to

The Resource Room is staffed and operated by the Lake
Champlain Basin Program (LCBP) through a partnership
with ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain.he
LCBP is a federal, state, provincial, and local
initiative to restore and protect Lake Champlain and
its surrounding watershed for future generations. The
LCBP works in New York, Vermont and Quebec. To learn

UVM RUBENSTEIN ECOSYSTEM SCIENCE LABORATORY
|
The Rubenstein Ecosystem Science Laboratory is a
lakefront extension of the Rubenstein School of
Environment and Natural Resources at the University of
Vermont (UVM). The laboratory is also used by Saint
Michael's College in a partnership with UVM. It houses
state-of-the-art research facilities, including
laboratories for the study of contaminants, water and
sediment quality, and aquatic biota including fish,
invertebrates and algae. The laboratory provides
researchers with the tools necessary to investigate and
understand the ecosystem processes that determine
ecological health and influence the quality of life for
the human community in the Basin. The UVM research
vessel Melosira is docked adjacent to the facility,
providing access for research and teaching on Lake
Champlain. The facility also provides a teaching
laboratory for use by UVM, Saint Michael's College, and
ECHO .
