HIRES new director
of development, steve perkins
BURLINGTON, Vt. — ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science

Team after a successful ten years at the Bennington
Museum, in Bennington Vermont where he was first hired

MONTPELIER, VT—On June 30, 2011, more than
twenty-three organizations and individuals were
recognized for their exceptional contributions to
environmental causes at the Governor’s Environmental

Environmental Teen Leadership Program, otherwise known
as the E-Team, won the Governor’s award for Youth

“Contraptions!” — the newest exhibit at ECHO Lake

Goldberg-esque world of gadgets, gizmos, doodads, and

New Exhibit Opens November 15
(BURLINGTON, VT) — Imagine, for a moment,
finding a dinosaur footprint in your own backyard. It happened to 14-year-old
Pliny Moody as he was plowing his father’s Massachusetts field in 1802:
Three-toed tracks imprinted in a slab of rock — and the word “dinosaur” hadn’t
even been coined yet! How did we get from those footprints, found more than a
hundred years ago, to our modern understanding of dinosaurs? Find out with “DinoTracks,”
running November 15 - April 27, at ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the
Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. This latest ECHO exhibit features real fossils
and imaginative interactives that bring paleoichnology — the study of ancient
remains, including tracks — to life. “DinoTracks” uniquely focuses on dinosaur
footprints from the New England states of Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well
as New Jersey and Eastern Canada, where numerous fossils have been found and, in
fact, are still being found today.

ECHO Debuts Global Creatures Exhibit Series on Feburary 24
(BURLINGTON, VT) — What's red and green
and eats
crickets for a midnight snack? Why the newest resident of ECHO, the
red-eyed treefrog, of course. And that's only one of the many beautiful
and bizarre amphibians that make up FrogWorld -ECHO's premiere exhibit
in a new series featuring world creatures to compare to our regional
critters. Opening February 24, and sponsored by Redstone, the permanent
exhibit is highlighted by interactivities, educational displays, and
most importantly, a bevy of fantastic and otherworldly frogs that are
sure to make thinking globally more fun than ever before.
