ECHO Stirs Up a Caldron of Creepy-Creature Fun & Science in
October
ECHO’s launching the Halloween season with a pointed question:
Who can handle the truth about creepy-creatures? Because whoever
dares to enter ECHO in October will find the lake aquarium and
science center crawling with “spirited” activities, surprises,
and weekend programs featuring live icky critters — all under
the umbrella event, SHOCKTOBER. And there’s a bargain to boot:
Throughout the special month, kids in costume will be admitted
for half-price.
Rob Landry, the mastermind of SHOCKTOBER, aka ECHO’s Director of
Guest Experience, proclaimed: “SHOCKTOBER is ECHO’s unique take
on the spirit of the season, for the young and young at heart.
We’ve transformed our traveling exhibit space into an
eye-popping, spooky environment! Throughout October, visitors
will enjoy more than 70 carved pumpkins, over-sized games, a
puppet theatre, jolting surprises, and the weekend SHOCKTOBER
programs. Plus kids in costume will be admitted for half-price
and receive a treat from the Front Desk staff. From the moment
folks enter the building, they’ll have a creepy, fascinating,
fun-fest, ECHO-style!”
SHOCKTOBER’s program wizard, Linda Bowden, the Public
Programming and ECHO Educator, stated, “Never before has ECHO
offered such an array of spine-tickling programs, many
custom-designed to debunk the myths about eerie-looking
creatures. With live raptors flying overhead, real hissing
cockroaches, venomous centipedes, bats and spiders, magic and
electricity shows, and even a master Halloween mask-making
class...wow. It’s going to be a remarkable month!”
