ECHO’S ANNUAL PASS MATCHING GIFT: MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT
Available now through January 11, 2009
BURLINGTON, Vt —This season may be a difficult one for many
families going through tight financial times. One way to keep
spirits bright — ECHO’s Annual Pass Matching Gift program. From
now until January 11, 2009, whenever you purchase or renew an
Annual Pass to ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the
Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, ECHO will give an Annual Pass
to a low-income neighbor and help make their holiday season —
and the new year — that much better.
The Annual Pass Matching Gift is an ECHO’s Open Door
community access program, made possible through partnerships
with social service agencies, an EPA matching grant, Comcast
sponsorship, and individual donations. “Last year over 1,200
passes were donated through the program,” says Kate Villa,
ECHO’s Director of Development. “You can bring a lot of joy, and
a great cultural experience on Lake Champlain, to those who
might not otherwise be able to afford it.”
An Annual Pass to ECHO is a gift to the community, and a
green gift as well, supporting ECHO’s mission to inspire the
stewardship of the Lake Champlain Basin — all for only $27 per
adult; $24 per senior or college student; and $18 for a child.
Besides unlimited admission, year-round, Annual Pass Holders
also receive free admission to over 280 other science centers
around the country. To purchase an ECHO Annual Pass Matching
Gift, call 1-877-324-6386; or go to echovermont.org.
ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center is located at the
Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, on Vermont’s Burlington
Waterfront. ECHO features 70 live species, over 100 interactive
experiences, seasonal changing exhibits and events — all
exploring the Ecology, Culture, History, and Opportunity for
stewardship of the Lake Champlain Basin. The 2.2 acre Leahy
Center environmental campus is also highlighted by the Lake
Champlain Basin Program Resource Room, UVM’s Rubenstein
Ecosystem Science Laboratory, Lake Champlain Navy Memorial,
ECHO’s Eclectic Gift Shop, and green-themed Think! Café. Open
year-round, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve &
Day. Admission is $7-$9.50; children under 3 and K-12 classroom
teachers with credential ID are free. For more information visit
