ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center Unveils New Expansion
BURLINGTON, Vt. — ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center has just unveiled the new, state of the
art, Revision Lakeside Pavilion. The new space can accommodate 174 people for a seated dinner, or be divided
into multiple breakout rooms, including a boardroom with stunning lake views. The Lakeside Pavilion is equipped
with a large movie screen capable of 2D and 3D projection, six LCD flat screen TV's and a smart board. The
technology in this space is one of a kind and the first in the area.
The week of March 24th was a busy week with a launch of the opening festivities on Saturday,
March 24 with an exclusive opening for Senator Patrick Leahy and ECHO donors. This event was the first in the
new space which provides flexibility of uses for private events as well as additional education space and a
more square footage to host bigger exhibits.
The opening week was a ballet of sorts: while our construction team, JAM Construction, was
cleaning up tools, we were moving in event rentals, and as event rentals moved out, we moved in our first
block buster exhibit, OUR BODY: The Universe Within. OUR BODY opens to the public on April 14th and will
be at ECHO through September 3. Once the exhibit leaves, the new expansion space will be available for other uses.
Having such a quick turn-around in the space was a challenge in terms of showing off the new space for
potential future bookings. Through creative partnering with Catering by Dale, Sugarsnap and Vermont Tent Company, we
were able to host to over 150 professionals in the community that are responsible for planning events, meetings and
conferences.
The week ended on April 1st with a Burlington City-wide celebration with the new Mayor, Miro Weinberger and over 300 guests.
